Just saw one of the best concerts of my life.
Sacred Journeys, Arvo Part concert at the Opera House.
Profoundly beautiful music.

Agree wholeheartedly.
About 15 years ago, Sydney had a concert series featuring various composers, and the Part concert was graced by the presence of the man himself: an extremely humble man.

The fact that a pianist like Roger Woodward was playing pieces that outwardly had nothing to do with great technical dexterity should attest to the inner quality of the music. The strings (ACO) had to work hard, though.

We're also lucky that Part's label is ECM: always meticulous recordings.

Arvo Part is incredible....Passion, and Litany are 2 of my favourite recorded classical performances. Part is meticulous in his approach, was an engineer before he got into composing i think, and his approach to ensemble tuning is anal to say the least!

I wish i knew this was on!! i rarely follow Opera House performances! BAH!

I was in the choir box - 4th row behind the choir and orchestra, facing the conductor. Sound was pretty much all acoustic. Amazing to hear an orchestra play soooo softly at times. Sitting behind the choir, hearing mostly reflectied sound, gave it the most ethereal quality.
Jason, were you there? Was it recorded?
