I think that for artistic reasons you should limit yourself to 10 channels and buy a Neve BCM-10 off me... :-}

You know me...anything over 2.5 m ;-)

just a bit above what I'm looking at.

You can buy an API DSM system http://www.apiaudio.com/dsm.html or the API 1608 http://www.apiaudio.com/1608.html which sound great and are new with 5 year warranty. The beauty if the DSM is you can build it slowly over time. I just recieved the final components of my DSM 24 system today.

Some old consoles might require plenty of maintenance.

Thought it might have been his. Its the only one i know of in Oz.
His Trident went to Mark Rachel and is now in the Hills here in Melbourne. I thought he would be happy with the API sound wise but it might be a bit short on options for mixing. Anyone know what he's replaced the API with?

chris you might need to rethink your API count , there are quite a few nowadays
including the legacy mother in all apis in Qld and daniel denholm has one here in sydney and.. and..

Goes to show you......just because i don't know about it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist....

On a slightly more serious note, there must be a lot of gear here in Australia. It would be interesting to do a per capita comparison with the USA because of its larger population etc. Some how i think we have more gear per head of population here than in the US. If not there must be a HUGE quantity of gear there.

going by the US ebay, i'd say there is simply a HUGE amount of gear there. and it's all the stuff that i want!

Last year i got an old altec 1612A preamp limiter on eBay. Pretty easy straightforward purchase. It is fairly thick sounding, not airy at all so good for some things like snare thwack!! Also handy for combining mic and line to a single input. Must say if finances wern't an obstacle i would get a few more bits and pieces though.
