Do you mean the m80? I don't think that is valve but it is good.

What about JLM's new BA500, ten off them in a Ten space rack? that would run probably 3500 if you negotiated and DIY. They would be easy to build. I have built his rack version, and his LA500 and VU kit.

Joe on his front page also looks to have a 4channel version of the TG500 coming out to...give him a call.

You know only about 1year to 18 months ago...I think it was Awave was selling 8 by 1073's racked for around 20grand, they were ex demo. I really should have bought them....if I add up all the crap I have bought over the years...I would pass that total quickly. My point, buy right. Otherwise you are gonna buy again...you know it

The ISA828 is underrated. Some people give em a bit of a bad rap, but I have heard some awesome drum sounds recorded with one. They seem to be good for the money and you can get adat out with em.
Peter Moshay uses a pair for all the band stuff on 'Live from Daryl's House' going via adat to an Alesis HDR if you want an idea of what they can do.
Unfortunately, the 828 doesn't come with Pete as well.

of course you could do a lot worse than a API 500 rack of 10 VP25 mic pres. If you DIY that should be about 3000 and well worth it.

well if you DIY and you get into the swing of it cost and time should be low. Takes me about an hour to make a VP25 so I could probably do 10 in a week in the couple hours after dinner, the rack case is about 3 hours work and the powersupply you could have made by Rob or someone similar. Added benefit of getting slightly different flavours of pres for certain instruments (ie a pair for snare that are a bit meatier and a different pair for overheads that are a little snappier) just by changing the opamp. Also modular so if you manage to damage one channel you can pull it out and repair it whilst still using the others.

I'd like to sell my Averill 2 x vintage API pre's. You could combine API pre's with a lunchbox, a rack, also maybe a 3124.
