ADM 780 Mic Pre Modules $170 each

These modules were manufactured in 1980 by Audio Design Manufacturing.

They have a discreet preamp at the front end with a transformer input.

Total gain of 80db via a 4 pole 19 position Grayhill gain switch.

Requires a dual rail 20 volt supply.

Rob Squire or Joe Malone (JLM) can rack them up for you or can sell you the power supply to suit.

Edge connectors and schematics included.

These are high quality modules and are built like a tank.

$170 each.

Well it's got the same UTC input transformer as the 1176 and an API style discreet preamp so I guess the transformer would have the most to do with its tonal colour.

The UTC Ouncer transformers aren't as clean as the Jensens or Lundahls.

That said, I really like these pres for vocals and other people seem to use them for drums.

I think tonal colour is very subjective thing... everyone hears things a little bit differently... that's why I usually don't comment on the sound of pre's or mics, I just know what I like.

Maybe Myles can chime in and give you his opinion... I think he might had a couple of them

Hope this helps.
