Acousticfoam cut to size

Can anyone recommend places in Sydney that cut acoustic foam to size? In need of a couple small square pieces to raise up my monitor speakers a bit (385mm x 385mm x 50mm should do it)

Oh that could be cool gigpiglet - what colour is it though? And would you also have the tools/time to cut it to size (coz I wouldn't be able to myself)

Yes you would Vance. All you need is an electric carving knife... the type used for carving up the family roast.

Mark up the foam with a texta, use a stright edge as a guide, place the side of the blade up against the straight edge, turn it on and cut. Keep your fingers out of the way!

You could also use the same method with a good quality box cutter knife.

If you buy the foam from Clarke Rubber they will generally cut to size for a slighty outrageous fee.

Hope this helps

There's also this place:

I was surprised at some of the prices here and at Clarke Rubber too.

from memory i have two sheets left
one is the "old" ugly blue
one is the "new" more ugly yellow
so you would certainly need a plan to dress it in some way

Do not disregard the humble old Telstra white pages as sound anchors. Here's a link to an ear-opening study of the sound absorption properties of Telstra's 2001 A-K White Pages phone directory:

Once you've used them you'll never give them up!
