I've seen a bunch of these and owned a couple, and this is one the cleanest & most complete I've seen.
I think even the tape transport works, with the possible exception of a sticky supply motor (but I haven't investigated it beyond basic testing).
But of course you're buying this for the amp/pre-amp. I had decided to keep this one for myself, but I've just got some more immediate projects taking priority.
I've cranked some guitar through it, it sounds as it should. Everything seems to be working fine, come check it over if you're local (Melbourne). Will ship if I have to but these are heavy bastards.
Price? I honestly don't know. There's one on ebay asking $895, and a recent sale at $960. They will only increase in value. I'll entertain sensible offers... possibly even slightly less sensible offers if you're able to come and grab it and pay cash in the next couple of days.
Call or email me

holy shit Wez that's a beautiful example of one! Don't see them in complete form anymore let alone with the paint/cloth in such good nick.
I've got a 66 on the shelf that's ready to go to Rob but like you, have other things that are taking priority. You should hang on to it, would look good in the new studio

Thanks Dave, yeah I'm a bit torn - it's definitely one of those 'must have' items. I've let a bunch of these go by in the past that were in pretty ordinary condition.
Forgot to mention that it has the front lid (not pictured). As far as I can tell, it is 100% original and complete.

I have a complete 77 Mk 11 in good working order as well. Great as a mono mixdown machine but who is doing mono mixes......................? I was going to sell it a few months back ( when I bought the boat ) but didn't need to in the end and Im thankfull I still have it. They are beutifull machines and as so many have lost "the tape reel" section, I think it is really worth keeping it intact.

Hey Chris, yeah if I was keeping it I wouldn't break it down/rack it up, I'd leave it just as it is.
Having second thoughts now!

............I sold a real nice old mic when i bought the boat and looking back i now know i didn't have to and wish hadn't. Truth is though If I really need another there are always "good deals" if you wait to jump when the opportunity arises.

I have 2 x 77 MkIII's fully restored (Rob/ProHarmonics), as a matched pair - as my make up gain for my 32 channels of passive mix bus.
No matter what I have attempted to replace them with, or try out in their place - they always win out.
Astonishing quality , point to point, Australian made tube preamps.
Would never sell my pair...

Another 77 MkII (or is it III?) here. Was functional when I got it for $100. Waiting for the day when I send it to Rob.
(Yes, Mat Robins, I know. Stop nagging!)

OK I've decided that this guy needs to go to a good home, otherwise it's just going to sit on the shelf here as I don't have the time or inclination to get it modded at the moment, let alone actually use it!
As mentioned above, you're unlikely to find one if these in better condition. $400 - happy to entertain trades.
