I have an old Hakko Ace 483 desoldering station that I hosed tonight whilst cleaning the gun..
When I removed one half of the handle to take the barrel holders out I managed to dislodge one of the leads going to the heating element. Then, whilst trying to remove the heating element to survey my handiwork, I managed to dislodge the other side as well.
It's a ceramic heating element and the 'solder' that held the leads to the element appeared to flake away, (solder paste maybe?).
Is anyone aware of a way of re-soldering these back to the element?
I realize this is a stretch, but I'm hoping one of you clever gents has come across this before and found a solution.. They stopped making parts for this thing years ago.. It'd be a shame to chuck it in the bin just for an element.
Thanks!

And just as luck would have it.. I found not only an element, but a diaphragm kit too.. NOS.. In NZ nonetheless..
And they won't sell to me because I'm in Australia..
Any Kiwi's want to do me a favor and order it for me? I'll send you the dough up front..
Peace!
