Interesting, did a quick look at prices OS and they looked more like your original figure.
The joys of being a small, geographically isolated and specialist market.

Re: Duplo Diffusers?
because they are so fragile and big , importing them in small quantities would make no sense
I have have a dialog with rpg for many years ( 20 )
just prior to acoustivision getting the local agency I was doing the numbers with them to do the same
but it was too rich for my pockets without changing my core business ( ie making records )
so I was very pleased to see acoustivision have it
I have been suppling rpg stuff sourced from them since for my acoustic consultancy since that time (3 years)
for what its worth I am the nsw "agent" but that means not much other then I know what the stuff does
and have a bunch in stock ( which i have now decided to use on my build )
and as shown I dont know the current prices - I just look it up prior to ordering and work that way
the thing with rpg stuff is it is a good "ready to stick up" highly specialized and researched acoustic solution to common problems
the drag is it highly specialized and researched acoustic solution to common problems sourced from the usa and therefore comes at a price that is beyond sensible for most local non commercial builds
but you dont need many skylines for most home rooms so even at the current price its a valid option for some

Re: Duplo Diffusers?
To clarify, wasn't thinking of importing them. As you mention it doesn't make a lot of sense on a small quantity and realistically the saving (in the region of maybe 100-150 US max) really isn't that significant once importation costs etc. are covered.
It does make me think again about DIYing a set out of pvc, but practically this is still going to be a pain in the arse and will probably just order the RPG's or have a play with some forklift pallets.
Comments weren't a slight on acoustivision - I'm sure their price is fair and reflects costs to them.

Re: Duplo Diffusers?
oh i understand
i just need to make sure that my position is covered if anybody reads this conversation out of context and phoned me up with a "please explain" order
some people can get wierd if you like their stuff but still recommend other things to suit other budgets

Re: Duplo Diffusers?
Nally, the company that make plastic tubs and God knows what else also make plastic pallets, from memory, a few months ago I was quoted approx., $40-50 each...........sorry I don't have a link BUT I seem to recall that the "online" company name is something other than Nally. The thing about plastic pallets is that if you're exporting, they don't need to be "certified" for quarantine purposes.
If working life ever allows me time I'm hoping to experiment with casting silicon moulds for a small scale diffuser and inject our liquid composite.
