Hi all,

I have just been given a job to mix this group, they have a Mackie CFX20 MkII, and after playing with the desk and then checking the manual, it appears that there is no way to monitor the Aux 1 or 2 sends.

So last night, I was forever walking on the stage and standing there listening to each wedge and then asking them what they wanted up or down.

I thought (as the aux outs are phono) to just parallel out (y-cable of sorts) into an unused channel and solo that channel.

1. Would the parallel option cause a (big) problem in terms of impedance for the powered wedges?

2. What are your suggestings at being able to solo into the Aux's (without having to open the unit as it is not mine to play with)?

If you have enough channels, you could y split the send, and return one half back to a spare channel, then PFL it there? (For god sake, don't send that channel back to aux 1!)
Or you could Y split the send and take one half to some sort of simple buffered amp...

I'd imagine sticking a headphone (say 8 ohm) load in the way of the active wedges would significantly effect their level.

Yes, I would not want to get a feedback loop happening.

Through a buffered amp, I would have to unplug headphones to listen to it.

So, first option sound best.

Wow, you can't solo the aux sends? They should've spent less money on an old VLZ... be!@#$%^& desks can do it ;)

I know! Last night, when I was using the desk, I thought to myself "where the hell is the solo/AFL button for the aux's" Then when I got home I downloaded the manual...no mention of it, then had to dig around some other documents on the mackie web site to find that is was not available as an option.

Why the hell would you build a mixer and not be able to solo/AFL the auxs!? It's like 2 buttons.
