Thanks for sharing this. How did you get the ribbon corrugated and what was the locktite for? I have done similar things to a modern ribbon. You might want to grab some silver leaf from art supplier and try that. You will need more than one beer to stop that stuff from snapping.

Glad you enjoyed the blog!
The lock tight was to stick the ribbon to the piece of broom straw
In order to thread the ribbon through ribbon motor. The corrugations were made by wrapping the ribbon around a camera lens .
I spoke to some art shops about there silver leaf but none could give details about the thickness
Most ribbons seem to be 1.8 to 2.4 microns

I think there a some models that used up to 6 microns. I was never able to get details but I figured for $12 for ten sheets it was worth a try. Definitely much thinner than foil and much harder to prep. Seems to work ok ESP for amp duties.
