i didnt quite get what this does.

it looks good tho, whetever it's doing.

Basically its a system of recording through tape into your DAW of choice, no need for maintaining a 16 0r 24 track tape machine anymore.

i have been watching this things progress with interest for some time
if it works like it looks like it does i want one
if it doesnt work like it looks like it does and its the kind of thing you swear at ...
i dont want one

i hate syncronisers even more then i hate computers .. and for longer with better reasons !

but if it works and the price gets a little saner its on my "gonna get me one of those one day" list

From my understanding it is a type of monitoring device which allows you to use your multitrack in conjunction with a DAW but without the normal latency issues (as well as letting you mix tape speeds), so you will still need to maintain your tape machine. Unless you are going for a duller sound..

originally i thought it was a rack which had a faux "tape reel" which wrote and erased quickly, and printed the results to digital.

i clearly need to learn more about tape...i know nossing!!!

why not just get a Cranesong HEDD and drop the tape altogether as being way more trouble and expense than its worth not to talk about maintaining fiddly little rubber rolly thingies (get your minds out of that particular gutter) and chasing some two bit bands wannabe "I heard tape is better" gearslutz hero winging while trying to disguise the hernia from moving the tape machine 2 inches to the right and geez those chocolate coated coffee beans I bulked out this morning are really good and you all really have to try them lots, in fact you can do that while I try to remember where I put the damn roll of tape.

I've been following the Clasp system since it appeared. But I didn't think about the possibility of using it with 1/4" and 1/2" machines.
I guess most people would want it to be used for drums which would mean multiple channels and therefore 16 or 24 track machines, but you could use it with a 2track recorder and process some of the sounds your recording. Maybe drum room mics or bass channels etc...
Maybe it's time to buy that 4 track Beatles machine

i bought the abbey road emi btr-2 ( all tube mono ) machine out to integrate
i would be really happy not to have to lugg it back on the truck

what about one of you guys blows 10 k on a clasp then we do a deal on the emi for beer money ?
