Got LA Scoring Strings for my Birthday...ok, it's early
Well I'm a very lucky boy, because I got LA Scoring Strings for my birthday...and it's not my birthday for another month. But the dollar is so good at the moment, it makes sense to get it now.
Man, these strings are good. I've had about 3 hours with them to play, so I made this brief piece. The violins are so playable. Particularily the Xtra Violin Legato. Wow. The violin part does not use the Mod wheel until the very last note, that I edited in the piano roll. You use the sustain pedal to go from sans legato to legato. Man it's like butter!
Oh, I had fun running the master buss through the UBK Fatso with no compression, just using the warmth circuit. Man it rounds everything off. This piece to me - as ignorant I am of period pieces - sounds a little 1950/60's film score (yeah, for the 40 seconds it's playing. lol). So the rounding made it......all old school like. One thing I noticed is it made the pan positions more apparent and separated. In fact quite dramatic. I've probably got something wired up wrong or something.
Oh, I than ran the piece through my API 527 comps to compress it a little. I can't hear any artifacts, just brought the ambience a little higher.
