Thanks Myles.........such a handy compilation of wisdom! I hardly ever visit the holy grail of recording forums but now i don't need to. All the collective wisdom in one succinct post!!!
I always thought i knew it all as i found myself nodding in agreement with most of the original posters opinions! :ymhug:
As a bonus i have a link to give to students that will save them countless hours scanning gearslutz for valuable info.

Hah, nice one.
Some great gear metaphors in that post.

Shows the collective knowledge of a bufuddled audio forum.

The HR824′s woofers are made of goat dung and the tweeters are made from the severed wings of demon locusts, and to dare use anything with a Mackie pre will summon brutish beasts from Netherworld who will feast on the souls of your family.

Dying here =))

Where else can you go to get the same amount of knowledge? Serious question.
There are still a lot of good people at Gearslutz - Ken Scott chimed in on a Beatles discussion this week.

If I was to criticise Gearslutz it would be that it's a victim of it's own success.
A lot of the insightful chatter is drowned out by more people with little actual experience.

As I said, if there is a more informative place, friendlier, with a high turnover of info and posts I'll go there in preference to Gearslutz.

um here is pretty good.

I do agree with you though gearslutz has some incredible gold, I was just in a brief conversation with an engineer of one of my all time favourite tracks. But there is so much unbelievable garbage from people who so full of it I'm amazed the world doesn't implode. I only read the QA stuff with engineers/producers and the aus forum...

Not so busy and 'international' as GS that's all.

Don't know who said this...

It is said that 1000 monkeys each with a typewriter and 1000 years will inevitably produce the works of Shakespeare. Now, thanks to the Internet, we know it's not true.
