Any of you guys have any thoughts on this desk, I've read some good things...

Hi Mark, unless it's very cheap I would probably pass. It's been a long time but from memory not a very open sounding desk. They are built very solidly, but are really noisy. Maybe could be modded but I don't really know.
Can you try it out first?

As with most desks of this style and age you will have the usual problems to contend with... noise, will need re-capping most likely, scratchy pots etc.

BUT,

It should sound better than your behringers etc when it comes to its EQ, its summing etc.

Bottom line is if you are after a mixer, you can fathom the idea of getting your hands a little dirty to get it back up to spec, this one fits the features you need AND you find one cheaply then you can't go too wrong, really.

At the same time, don't limit yourself to this models. Mixers, particularly from this era, go for criminally cheap, all the time.

hey guys really appreciate the feedback, I am looking for an older cheaper desk to mess around with, this went on ebay for around 300, i didnt pick it up, i think with desks this age it is probably safer to see them, so the search continues! cheers!

Yeah it's definitely good if you can check it out before you buy, check all the inputs work and that nothing is out of order. Good luck with the hunt!

at $300 it wouldn't have been too much of an outlay to mess with that sort pf setup. I thought you were talking about more cash. If you aren't in a mega hurry and could save a little so you get up to 1K you can get something that you won't want to sell in 6 months time. There have been some crazy deals here and there, you just have to keep watching the skies..but yeah make sure you can check whatever you buy first. Still nothing wrong with a few bits not working, long as you're prepared to learn how to fix them and parts are available. But then that becomes addictive. You get hooked on the solder fumes.

Was that the one in Young? I nearly bid on it myself. A long way for you to drive to pick it up though...

It's true, some great mixing consoles have disappeared around here for next to nothing!
