Hi all,
looking for some interesting tube / ribbon / other mics to add some interesting 'bespoke' options to a workable, but not flashy, work mic cupboard.
We have the basics covered well with current neumann, akg, shure, etc. etc. after some 'feature' mics.
Considering the new telefunken stuff and aea ribbons. Don't want Bees Neez mics.
Budget is limited to $1-2k per mic.
What's out there?

Re: WTB 'Interesting' Mics
I have a beautiful pair of 70's Milab DC-63 rectangular diaphragm LDC's with 44 different polar patterns and dual FET preamps. They sound fantastic and I don't record any more so I don't need them. I have absolutely no idea what they are worth, if you are interested we can come up with a figure though or perhaps a trade. I put them on a grand piano at Westlake studios once and we were blown away.

Hey I couldn't help but weigh in. I have 2 c12 clones and an ela 251 clone from Brian fox. Fox audio research. He buys cheap mics from china and stuffs them with high quality components, usually cloning the famous ones. They're F@#$ing great. And / cheap. So cheap for how good they are it's funny.
Google fox audio research. But - he goes through phases of working and not working I was lucky.
A few people bought them after borrowing mine. Some more recently have been disappointed he stopped taking orders.
His customer service is F@#$ing unbelievable, he sent me individualised graphs for the specific mics. You may have to wait in a queue, he may not be doing anything now. But worth a shot. Good luck.

Re: WTB 'Interesting' Mics
I posted some pictures /prices of the Milabs in a new thread so as not to distract this thread. My mistake, they are 1980's vintage, not '70's.
