It could be great or it could cost you $10K to get it over here and fixed up to spec. Get a hold of Rob, he swings around here.

I have spoken to Sonic Cirus (EBay seller) on several occasions regarding gear they have had for sale.
They pretty much deal with quality gear and I'd have to say that if it wasnt in working order, then they would definately mention it.
They had a couple of EQ modules and some cables I was after and they were very quick on communications - however their shipping charges are quite exorbitant, even with their "35% discount". They wanted over $150US shipping on the cables alone!!
I'd hate to imagine the cost of shipping that desk out...

They use UPS expedited which is why it's so expensive. I've had them send stuff regular international before which is a lot cheaper.
The console....hmmm...81 series. It's not what you would call from the golden era of Neve and it's not a patch on an older 80 series in my opinion. But it does have an 'N' on it. I'm also a little suss of the fact they say you'll have to do the work to get it fully operational, but they don't say what the problems with it are. The fact that they suggest parting it out and racking up the channels seems a bit of a concern. BUT, I've never had a problem with Sonic Circus and they are reputable so who knows.
They quote $3500 US to get it to Switzerland. You'd be doubling that to get it here I reckon. Plus duties becuase it's place of manufacure is the UK, so no free trade agreement. Add to that the wait because it would have to go via sea.
All that added up...it seems like quite a gamble....

Ok a little off topic here but this free trade buissiness. I was under the impression we had a free trade agreement with the US.
Recently I purchased some good over $1K from the US and copped the old doubble tax treatment so assumed Free trade didn't apply to us Pro Audio guy's or does it.
Or have I got this wrong all together.

Only if the gear is made in the USA or has 50% or more US parts does it qualify for free trade. Anything over $1000 sometimes incl shipping costs attracts gst.
