Pittsburgh Police Challenged over Use of Sound Cannons
Not that this is inspirational, but it's sound related and distressing.

JUAN GONZALEZ: And what about this sound cannon? The company that manufactures it, American Technology Corporation of San Diego, calls it the Long Range Acoustic Device, or LRAD. How exactly does it operate? And what is the sound that it makes?
BILL QUIGLEY: Well, we were—I was in a group of people that were coming down a hill, and all of a sudden the police backed up this huge black truck. And on the back of the truck was a great big black device. We didn’t know what it was. And they said, “You either leave, or we’re not responsible for any injuries that occur to you at this point.â€

I don't want to sound 'french' or anything, but it was only a matter of time before 'terrorism' laws were used against civilians in a manner contrary to their original intention. there are literally hundreds of examples where a heavy-handed government has used terrorism legislation unfairly (especially in the UK, it's becoming a police state).
a good example here was that fruitcake in Darwin bombing the insurance office because of a rejected claim - I didn't hear the final outcome but the police were considering using anti-terrorism laws against him. now, he deserves all he gets but I don't think that lawmakers had this sort of guy in mind (particularly after 9/11) when drafting their legislation, nor should they have either.
next step for this sort of 'technology' would be designing lasers that affect eyesight. not too disimilar in my opinion (particularly for the enemies).
Interestingly enough, when I was a young'n I did work experience for AWA defence industries in Adelaide. I helped put together a night vision tank sight, to aid and facilitate killing and/or wounding. Made my decision to quit engineering an easy one... ;-0

OK, this is going to stir up a big storm or argument..maybe those laws are actually being used just the way they were designed ; ) Tyranny 101. Change the laws so that if anyone opposes you, you can lawfully dispose of them.

Aren't these also used by both sides (whalers and protesters) in the Great Southern Ocean kerfuffles? You can hear them at work in the various batboat ramming vids. Its not just governments that use sound as a weapon (in non-Cat Empire ways).

Damn Rick I wish I did'nt read that with a mouthfull of coffee, so does my computer. :)
Come to think of it with these stupid fukwitz running our once fine country it seems we probably won't be able to put a fuking sticker on a F@#$ing ipod and boogie on at a train station without attracting the TRG.
Poor JK they probably have him in a 140db chirping cell with flashing lasers and crazy strobe lights programmed out of time with the music, ha little do they know he will probably enjoy it and pretend he's at a rave.
