i dunno
the lyrics are ... well....
the kids seem to be old enough to drive but not old enough to drink
they are all shiny and white with sensible clothes on
the middle eight has a black guy in it that nobody at the party will ever see in the flesh

i reckon it summs itself up nicely

why have 2 million people watched this video ..?

This song is everywhere I turn at the moment. Terrible (and terribly great), but it's actually been stuck in my head today. That's a curse.
I like the cover versions though-

I was on twitter today and this rebecca black came up as one of the most recent talked about topics.

I was like. "isnt that the chick who sings that friday song. You gotta be kidding me, she is that popular"

The bit that totally killed me about that song is the bridge with the "saturday is after it ...sunday is etc"

That was too much...

whats killing me is she is thirteen and it is somebodies job to look after that child for at least 5 more years !

if my kids ever work out lyrics so devilishly clever i think i might send them back for some reflective songwriting lessons
before i allowed the whole world at large to watch her carwreck as it happens .

7 million hits in a week !
the world just loves a carcrash

That's the vibe I got about those guys too. Not really art, just churning out generic muzak for people who'll pay for their spoilt kid to be recorded. Gross!

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. If my kid wanted to be a singer but needed that much autotune mangulation, I would be kind enough to tell her that a singing career isn't for her.....

Probably good money in it though! (There'd have to be)

Someone told me today that Miss Black is 13 years old and that whole thing cost her parents $2000.

If this is true I must re-assess my opinions.

1) She still can't sing, but how much fun would that whole experience be for a group of 13 y/o kids on a sleep over at their friend's house?

2) At $2000 for production including video, no-one is making a lot of money off it.

3) How ill-advised to let it end up on youtube. Poor Rebecca will probably never live it down. That flack she's copping has got to damage a girl that young; hell, I'd want to kill myself!

edit bad joke.

back on topic.
i used to make hardcore dance music. gross. but i laugh at it now.

at the end of the day ms black is top 20 itunes now, so she'll be laughing when she sells the advertising space on her youtube channel after releasing her second single and then getting placements on ellen/jimmy kimmel etc.
i'm sure she'll get over the bullying soon - but if all she wanted was 15 mins fav - she got it!

Rick,

Yes my signature is sad but true...

Glad to have lightened up your dinner, I have to say though, your signature also rings true in the dusty, heavy old crap collecting realm.

Let me know when you get sick of your stuff so we can put it all together
and start a museum..
