For the limited use that I have, I have found a, slightly modified, aluminium swimming pool brush pole does the job. Available at Bunning et al for around $30.00. It is light and extends out to around 4 metres.

Check out the one Swamp Industries sell, it is light and hollow so you can run cables down the inside of it. Rode make one too. Try ebay.

Thanks for the advice, I have seen the swamp one, I am seeing a few different weights for this one, from 880gms to 1.2 kg..Rode one looks interesting...anyone have any thing to say about these?

remember, if you run cables down the middle of the pole make sure it doesn't rattle...
