Hi Everyone.

Just an enquiry at this stage as it may extend beyond the finances, but we're after a couple of these for acoustic guitar and general stereo duties. A matched pair would of course be extra awesome.

Anyone offloading a couple of these lousy microphones?

Doesn't help - but I've been looking for one of these for ages. You can always get them off ebay if price is no real object, normally restored and reskinned for $1200-$1300.

Yep.
There was a pair in Germany that went for $1500 AUD plus shipping last year.
I sat there, thinking 'I really should grab these' while that friggin ebay clock ticked over.

I can't find the right smiley, but they do come up right?

Myles was selling a gyraf diy build with an m7 capsule (similar to um70), not stereo but probably fantastic and a good buy.

I've got mt711s which is transformer less and sounds cool. But cleaner

I've had both.

I think you can pick them up cheaper as people don't go bonkers for them

I've got several gefell mics and I love them including the 691/2 bodies and the m581 bodies and a variety of caps to match including the um70s. A very flexible system and they really do sound great... would love to get some m930s too.

Yes, just love the sound of the Gefells, pricey now though!
The transformerless ones mentioned earlier (the mt71s/m200 style) are in our list, along with Peluso P28 and unexpectedly AKG451, really looking for 2 of a kind though.

The other thing was some Calrec pencil mics we used years ago, but they seem a bit hard to find.
The search continues...

I actually have 2 x pairs of AKG's, 2 with cardioid and 2 with hyper cardioid caps. They're really nice, bright though.

For drums I prefer the gefell pencils with the omni caps, full and dark.
