I will have to disagree with you about Level 7 and Electric Ave (I honestly think they are better value for money), but you are right it is a competitive alternative to 301 Sydney and Sing Sing, although it is a different kettle of fish. Don't get me wrong, I think it has a fantastic selection of gear, and I like how the machine room is in front of the console so you can see the meters on the 2" machines. Although one thing puzzles me... why does the Pro Tools rig only have 16 inputs? That's a pain if you have recorded 17 tracks on the 2". Not the end of the world but still a pain, particularly when you are paying that much for such a comparatively short day. :D

Yes it looks to be a smallish recording room, and it seems as though there's only the one space. Sure 16 inputs is fine in some cases, for some engineers if you are recording straight to protools, or the 2" machine has only 16 tracks. But if you are tracking to and overdubbing on the 24 track 2" machine, and then transferring to Pro Tools for more overdubbing, you have to do it in two passes if you end up with more than 16 tracks. That's a pain, not a huge one but a pain all the same. For the prices they are charging I would really expect more recording spaces and at least 24 inputs on the Pro Tools rig. But then I'm picky I suppose 8) That said, and as the name of the place implies, it would be a great place to mix a record.

Well, it is labelled as a mix room. He swapped around what used to be the control room and the recording room so that the smaller room is now the recording room.

After chatting with Daniel last week when I bought my API comp, I suspected it may be his studio.
Sure it's an expensive place to mix but it sure looks like you get your $$$$ worth.
Next time I spend $4000 at his shop I may have to fly up there and pretend to be undecided on what I want till he lets me play with his gear, I'm sure it would only take me a week to decide, heh.
Nice guy too.
